Stephen Field, President of Synergy Hospitality Management, knew that the epidemic would change the business model for their thriving guest-first business, but also knew that there was much that the company could offer to the fight. “This has hit us all so deeply and so close to home.” In addition to local market outreach directly from the hotels, the portfolio has signed up for American Hotel and Lodging Association’s (AHLA) new initiative – “Hospitality for Hope” – which identifies hotel properties that have offered to provide temporary housing for emergency and healthcare workers as the COVID-19 public health crisis grows.
“Our Hotels are demonstrating the best of us all, providing a helping hand to our communities in this time of need. As we continue to face this unprecedented public health emergency, we are doing what we can to give back to front line healthcare workers, first responders and essential workers who continue to work around the clock to protect our communities,” continues Field. In addition to those on the front line, in some cases, Synergy has opened our doors to support patients and those recovering from the virus. “Keeping our doors open is what we do best, our guests can rest easy knowing they have an alternative place to stay.”
“Keeping our doors open is what we do best, our guests can rest easy knowing they have an alternative place to stay.”
Chip Rogers, AHLA president and CEO said, “It has been so impressive to see hotel after hotel join this important initiative as a way of giving back to the communities in which they operate. As an industry of people taking care of people, the hotel industry is uniquely positioned to support our communities by caring for the first responders who are on the front lines of this public health crisis. Hotels have always been an active member of our local communities, and this time is no different. We are proud to work to facilitate partnerships with federal, state and local governments to support the health community during this critical time.”
In New York, one of the Company’s hotels has dedicated all 358 guestrooms to the COVID-19 response and another 100 guestrooms at a sister property in New York. Now the Company’s Philadelphia area hotels are providing safe accommodations to those on the front line as the war against the virus continues to accelerate in the Company’s backyard.
